Laura Vogt is a historian, storyteller, and poet. Her bestselling debut In the Great Quiet is a sweeping, transportive historical novel based on her ancestor. A pioneer who unwaveringly endured the Oklahoma frontier in an epic adventure about a woman haunted by secrets and searching for home. Laura studied literature and history in undergrad and graduate school, focusing on Shakespeare, folktales, and the history of mentalities. She attended the University of Iowa Writing Workshop writing program in Ireland, and has been published in various journals, including Lit Hub, Fourteen Hills, Pleiades, Writer's Digest, and Enchanted Living Magazine.
